Cross Channel Tracking
Cross Tracking enables you to track customers who contact your company outside of the usual online channels, such as catalogs, web forms, email links, or 800 numbers.
After setting up ConversionRuler using our Cross Channel Tracking snippets installation guide, you can then identify every customer who visits your site by a 5-letter code, such as "ABZEI".
This 5-letter code is called the "Cross Code" or "Cross-Tracking Code."
- See more accurate conversion statistics
- Track all sales, not just online sales
- Perfect for businesses which receive most sales by phone or catalog orders
Output the Cross Code for your customers when they call an 800 number:
Call us now at +1 800-555-1212! Mention this code: and receive an additional two-week extension to your demo period! The code which appears above is the ConversionRuler Cross Code.
Output the tracking code, cookie, or Cross Code into a form
As well, if you would like access to the original landing for this visitor, it can be accessed as well. It appears in the format:
Category|Source|Campaign|Segment|Split1|Split2|Split3|Split4
This demonstration form will just be printed back to you when you submit:
Nothing will be recorded.
Interested in learning more? Fill in this form to be added to our sales contact list:
You should expect to see three additional fields output to the form which are ConversionRuler variables which are passed to your server.
Track customers which click on your email links
For sites which do not have server-side mailing capabilities, our mailto converter will embed the 5-letter Cross Code in most email programs (note the Subject):
Please contact our sales department at sales@example.com.Track Catalog Orders
With the Cross Code, you have a permanent record of how a customer arrived at your site. If a customer makes a catalog request, and orders some merchandise from you in 3 months, you can determine how they found you on the web:
- Upon initial request for a catalog (on the web), a call from the customer (from the web), the Cross Code is entered into to your systems
- Store the Cross-Code in your customer record, along other identifcation (such as catalog ID) numbers
- When the customer orders from you, ask for the catalog ID number to connect the customer to their initial request
- Export the date, amount, and cross codes on a regular basis and import them into ConversionRuler using our simple tools
- Your reports are updated to reflect the true ROI for your campaigns
Track Backoffice Orders
For orders which take place in your company's back-office (outside of the web-browser), you can reliably record actions using our Action API, and the Conversion Ruler cookie.
- Visitor comes to web site and signs up for service
- Visitor ConversionRuler cookie is recorded
- Each subsequent order through a separate process can be automated to update ROI through ConversionRuler.
For more information, read the Action API documentation.
