The technique used to prevent the site activities of a particular computer (or company or another entity that might have a fixed IP address) from skewing the tracking data.

This is appropriate only when there is anomalous browsing activity from a fixed IP address. For example, you might want to exclude the IP address of a Web developer on a Web site so that his or her activity isn't included in the traffic or Conversion reporting.
